Mission Statement
Vermont Shakespeare Company is dedicated to presenting wildly innovative productions of Shakespeare and to finding an exhilarating way to connect the beauty of our natural world to the magic of live theatre.
We are committed to using the powerful spirit of theatre to affect positive change in the world. We achieve this by teaching workshops that encourage freedom of expression and the nurturing of the authentic creative voice, mentoring young people interested in a career in the arts, and involving the community in all aspects of our productions.
We utilize the timeless work of Shakespeare to continue the dialogue about the challenges of being human, and to explore ways to meet those challenges with strength and joy.
Our Vision
Our big dream for Vermont Shakespeare Company is to create a thriving nationally recognized Shakespeare Festival that performs in multiple locations throughout the state of Vermont. We are confident that, in time, we will be able to offer a summer season that runs for a month with two shows in repertory. Many major Shakespeare Festivals around the country started just as we have. They began with a stage in a field and a tent as a dressing room, and have grown into destination events that have tens of thousands attend each summer.
With the right mixture of nurturing and support, we can achieve the same, and become a vital part of the cultural fabric of the state of Vermont.
